Many people, both personally and professionally use dual monitors when computing. This concept has been around since the 90s and is becoming more commonly used. There is; however, a new approach to this concept that could make some lives easier or at least less cluttered.

Samsung has released a dual monitor set that has a 22" monitor along with an attachable 7" monitor - the SyncMaster 2263DX. This is a great setup for those who like the concept of dual monitoring. It is especially beneficial for individuals whom have limited desk space, and cannot fit two full sized monitors on their desk. The 7" monitor is perfect for secondary applications like instant messaging, while the 22" monitor is ideal for running your standard applications.

The primary monitor, 22-inch, has a resolution of 1680 x 1050, a response time of 5mx, and a contrast ration of 1000:1. If you know your monitors, you know this is an average monitor. The big difference with this monitor, from single units, is the fact that you must connect it with a USB port along with a DVI, HDMI, or VGA cable.

The 7" monitor is not quite as glorified as the 22", but that is to be expected considering it is considerably smaller. This monitor has a 400:1 contrast ration, 800 x 480 resolution, and a response time of 30ms. Considering major applications will not run on this monitor, these numbers should be sufficient.

The secondary monitor attaches nicely to the primary monitor, taking up much less real estate on your desk. It is attached via a pivotal arm that allows you to rotate the monitor to the perfect position. Additionally, the 7-inch monitor can be adjusted to either landscape or portrait layout, whichever you prefer.

The dual monitoring experience, that the SyncMaster 2263DX offers, is phenomenal. However, it does not stop with pure efficiency and spaciousness. The smaller monitor can actually be used as a secondary portable monitor for a laptop, or even a standalone unit on your desk. You do not have to use it as an attachment to the 22-inch monitor that it comes with.

The Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX offers telecommunications benefits as well as dual monitoring. There is a 3.0M webcam, 1.5W down firing speakers, and a microphone integrated directly into the larger monitor. It is the perfect set up for videoconferencing.

This unit sells for around $550. While this is a bit pricey compared to a standard 22-inch monitor, there is additional functionality and convenience in the SyncMaster 2263DX.

It all comes down to what is most important to you. If you are considering dual monitoring then you obviously, need a solution that will help you to work more productively. The big question is space and budget. If you are willing to spend the extra dough, for the latest technology, then this is a great buy. If space is not an issue and budget is, then waiting for the price to drop might be the best alternative (or purchase two separate monitors).

To help you get started, use the acronym Smart to qualify the goals you plan to achieve. Smart stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and targeted.

Make a personal contract based on the following 5 D's to immerse yourself in the positive outcome of your studies. This contract should be written down, and signed.

DEFINE (what you want out of it) e.g. the exact car, house, number and type of holidays, income level for partner to give up work etc. Be specific or you won't know when you've achieved it. Re-enforce it with photographs and put them up around where you plan to work.

DESIRE is what stirs us deep down. Think about why you've decided to take this course, and why it's important to you. The more emotionally involved you get with your desire, the more you'll stick with it. Pin point whether it's the job, the status, the challenge, or the control etc. that drives you.

DEDICATION (the commitment) How much time will you spend studying each week and when? Put it on a calendar, in a diary, or on the fridge! You've made an appointment with yourself to fulfil your future, so keep it; it's really important to put specific time aside to study. Let the people in your life know when that is, so they won't expect you to do other things at that time (just as they don't when you go to your job). Psychologically you'll also find it much easier on yourself if you do this. It means when you're relaxing you won't be feeling guilty that you're not studying, and when you're studying you won't be feeling you're missing out on some other activity.

DETERMINATION - The will to stick to the plan until completion and see it through. This is your contract to ensure that you won't let yourself down.

DISCIPLINE. The goals and disciplines you put in place will give you strength to overcome any adversities that inevitably come your way.

Your contract is a working document designed to assist and strengthen you through the change in your life. Keep it close by, and take time to look at it regularly. Add inspiring thoughts and ideas to it that will keep you on track and spur you on. The more emotionally involved you get with the results of completing your course, the sooner you'll get through it. Expectation of good things, along with planning and goal-setting, have proven time after time to bring the desired results to fruition.

Has The 3 Flashing Red Lights apeared on your Xbox 360?

Has the 3 red light Ring of Death Brought Your Gaming Time to a grinding Halt?

3 times in 2 years the Xbox 360 has given me the 3 flashing red light wink of doom. Once was a little over 2 months after the Console was purchased.

But it was somewhat of a relief because the very nice people at the Game store Replaced the console without the need to send it back. Due to the fact that it was covered by the warranty.

But if the Warranty is up, you have limited and Expensive options.

Microsoft Charge over $100 for the repair. and you will be without your beloved Xbox 360 for 2 weeks or so.

Worse still is that I have heard a few reports that when the Xbox 360 consoles came back from Microsoft, the notorious 3 red lights of doom came back shortly afterwards.

So what causes the Hardware failure on the Xbox 360?

The core cause of the console's Hardware failure lies in the Heat sink design, Primarily in the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

The GPU heat sink is just below the CD drive of the Xbox 360, and as such the heat sink is too small for the heat generated, Its only 10mm (3/8) High, Whereas the CPU (Central Processing Unit), is about 50mm (2) High and comes with a Liquid cooler!

The Elite model of the Xbox 360 has a slightly altered heat sink design of its predecessor. In the Elite model, the liquid cooling is on both CPU and GPU chips. So the Heat is uniform throughout and thus eliminates 'hot spots'.

So the bottom line is that constant exposure to high temperatures cause the motherboard to warp slightly which causes cracking of some of the solder joints on the board. That then triggers Hardware failure and the 3 red lights show up on your Xbox 360.

The only free solution was the towel trick, but that can be even more problematic as it makes the warping even worse, and creates irreparable damage to the already weakened solder joints. I unfortunately, experienced this first hand.

As such, the nature of the internet being driven by money, if you wanted good reliable information, your going to have to pay for it. But at least I didn't have to give any money to Microsoft, Again!

The guides available were countless, I didn't think there would be so many. Having the fix done to your console takes Half an hour - say some guides. And some say two hours.

While most of the guides good offer explanations and step by step instructions, there are some guides that give you summarized information of the top guides out there.

When I got to do the fix for the first time, it took about two hours. And thats with a degree in electronics! So is a half an hour fix feasible for someone thats not technically minded? So I created a page that gives a proper honest opinion on what guide to use. Narrowed down to a choice of Three.

A mask protects the unselected parts of an image on each new adjustment layer. You can build your image adjustments effectively and slowly if you combine the effects of multiple adjustment layers. You also have the option of turning them off and on when you are ready to fine-tune the overall effect. Use the thumbnail icons to quickly identify your adjustment layers. These thumbnail icons are attached to the corresponding layer and they are labeled so you can see which layer applies which effect.

If it works, then what's the problem? As mentioned before, this technique bakes the internal components at extreme temperatures. So the towel fix does it's magic at the expense of further chip damage. Of course more damage will cause more problems later on. This is a degenerative procedure that completely fries your Xbox.

Another issue that's somewhat beside the point of this article is that the towel trick can be dangerous to do. The Xbox generates a lot of heat (hence the need for the cooling system in the first place). Because of the towels, the heat has nowhere to go and builds up fast. If your Xbox catches on fire, flammable things next to your Xbox (such as your house) can burn too.

The towel trick makes no sense at all and in this case, counterintuitive doesn't help. The ring of death is caused by the Xbox producing too much heat and having a cooling system that can't keep pace. Fixing this problem by applying more heat only makes the problem worse.

When looking at an HTML page, the structural content is perhaps not immediately apparent. One example of this difference is that XHTML is case sensitive while HTML is not. In XHTML, all tags are lowercase so the H1 tag has to be written h1. In HTML, h1 or H1 can be used.

In XHTML, the closing tag is obligatory: in HTML it is permissible to have an opening tag without a closing tag. One such example is a horizontal rule (hr) which creates a dividing line between two sections on a webpage. This element is represented by a single tag, since it can never be used as a container. In XHTML, there is a special syntax for such elements: a single tag which is both an opening and closing tag (hr/). In HTML, the single opening tag is used with no closing tag (hr).

In summary, XHTML is the current version of HTML and this is the standard that you should use for any new projects. However, existing projects that you may inherit may well contain HTML rather the XHTML. Therefore, you should be aware of both. Remember also that HTML and XHTML describe only the structure of web page content: neither of them should contain information regarding the presentation and display of this content. Using Custom Lists And AutoFill In Excel 2007

Excel's AutoFill feature is based on the program's ability to spot patterns in the data that you enter. For example, if you type "Week 1" in a given cell, you can have Excel automatically fill in "Week 2", "Week 3", etc. simply by dragging the AutoFill handle. This is to be found in the bottom right of the cell. If the cursor moves over it, the cursor changes appearance to a plus sign (+). When it changes you simply click, hold, drag in any direction and Excel will spot the pattern and maintain it to generate automatic data entries.

Whenever you use the AutoFill handle Excel displays the AutoFill Options drop down menu just below the last cell which has been automatically generated. If the program has not entered the correct data, you can choose one of the entries in the AutoFill Options to tell it what you actually meant it to do. For example, if you choose Copy Cells, you simply get an exact copy of what was in the original cell.

Excel also has the ability to automatically enter arbitrary series of data using a feature called Custom Lists. Certain lists are built into Excel, for example, the months of the year. To use the AutoFill feature, enter the first value in the list, for example, "Jan" or "January". Next drag the AutoFill handle (located in the bottom right of the active cell) in any direction to automatically enter the rest of the custom list.

As well as these built-in lists, Excel allows you to create your own custom lists. For example, suppose you work for a company that has branches in several towns. It's a safe bet that you'll need to list these towns quite frequently in your spreadsheets. You could therefore save yourself considerable time by setting up the towns as a custom list.

To create a custom list, simply select some cells that contain the information. Next, choose Excel options by clicking on the Office button. Click "Edit Custom Lists" in the "Popular" tab. Excel lists the contents of the cells that were highlighted. To set up the selected data as a custom list, simply click on the "Import" button.

This custom list can now be used in any of our worksheets, not just the sheet that contained the original information. Whenever we need out list, we simply type the first value. We then use the AutoFill handle to generate the remaining entries. When using AutoFill, you can drag in any direction and you don't have to start with the first element in the custom list.

You can also create custom lists directly in the "Custom Lists" dialog box. Simply click on the "List Entries" button and enter the elements separated by a carriage return. When you have finished entering your list, click on the Add button.

To delete a custom list, simply highlight its name and click on the "Delete" button. Excel checks to see that you really want to delete it. When you click "OK", the list is permanently deleted.
