Computer Registry - Why You Should Check and Repair

By Dan Ashton

To say that the state of an average computer's registry would be a surprise to most people would be an understatement. Just a few weeks, never mind months, of game playing and internet usage can leave a PC in desperate need of a computer registry cleaner.

To find the best registry repair, we must first check the registry itself to see the extent of the cleaning required. Over the past few years there have been several additions to the market of cleaning and repairing the registry of a PC.

Previously the assessment of a computer registry was a long and often tedious process. The registry would need to be reviewed for obsolete files and these would then be removed one by one, so as not to impact existing files which were required by the PC.

The modern PC is clever in the way that it attempts to maximise resources by sharing relevant files of programmes, thereby reducing the overall memory usage. The knock on effect of this, however, is that by deleting files without properly assessing them, it is possible that we could be removing those that a needed by another programme.

The ideal way to check your registry is to utilise a free programme to check what, if anything, needs cleaning and removing. Only then should we be making the decision to buy a programme to carry out the necessary repairs.

Backing up your files and programmes should be a crucial part of the process of cleaning your computer registry. As with all computer usage, once your files have been deleted, whether accidentally or not, there is little chance of you retrieving them. It is vital, therefore, that your registry repair system backs up your files to cover this eventuallity.

There are a number of different programs on the market. Some of these programs are paid others freeware but the good ones all have a few things in common and all help to protect your computer from the issues that come from having a clogged registry.

As we have demonstrated, the impact of not having a clean computer registry can severly hinder the peformance of your computer. Some people even get to the stage of disposing of a PC and purchasing a new one because they assume that this is the only way to have one running at the speeds they need. This is generally not the case, which is why a registery cleaner is recommended.
