Reasons Why A Laptop Computer Is More Expensive Than A Desktop Computer

By Andrew Johnson

There are a lot of joys to having a laptop computer. For one they are more convenient and you can carry them around, this is something you can not do with a desktop. A laptop computer is great when you want to show something to someone online and they do not have the Internet, then you can just bring over your laptop.

I enjoy having a laptop because I can move around the house with it and I can also take it with me on long trips when I am not driving I can at least play a game on it. And if I have the Internet then I can surf the net while I am on the road (as long as I have a signal).

I enjoy playing games on my laptop while I am waiting in the doctors office, dentist and even when I am waiting for a flight. Laptops are wonderful because of their convenience and you can get all kinds of accessories for them.

When Christmas finally came around I was so thankful for my laptop computer because I had a lot of pictures of my son on it and none of my other family members owned a computer so I could not save them to any kind of disk. I was able to take my laptop and show my family the pictures and they picked out the ones they liked most and I was able to print out pictures for them at one of my local stores.

My laptop has gotten a little bit old now and I do not spend all night on it like I did the first couple nights. I sometimes will find myself spending a few hours on it and then getting bored, but I still love it because it runs great and I can still do everything on it that I did in the beginning.

You can find a laptop computer at a number of places especially online. You can find many different brands and they have even come out with a mini laptop and it comes in many different designs and colors. You can also get a regular sized computer with different designs on them.

A laptop can be a costly and the desktop can be quite a bit cheaper. Depending on what you want to use your laptop computer for it can be of a lot of convenience as long as you are not doing a whole lot more than surfing the Internet because this is what they are basically made for.

Google Voice Pushes Telecommunications Into The Future.

By Gregg Housh

A famous pioneer in web technology, creating the most popular search website in use today, Google stands at the forefront of corporations pushing towards a future that is inextricably tied to the rapidly evolving arena of the web.

With some of the most brilliant minds at work under their roof, the services resulting from their ingenuity have essentially modified how we communicate with each other. From Gmail to Google Wave, to competition that desperately plays "catch up," proof of this company's forward-thinking innovation abounds.

One of their more engaging services is Google Voice, a telecommunications wonder that extends users a unique phone number from Google, to which any calls to your real telephone - or, if you so choose, multiple phones will be transferred.

How it works :

* User creates ( assuming it is not taken ) a new telephone number or selects one from a pool of numbers made available by Google. * Once the Google Voice number has been selected, inbound calls to that number will be forwarded to the assigned telephones.

As an example, take the following scenario as testament to the convenience afforded by Google Voice :

While in the kitchen fixing dinner, you are awaiting a call from your brother about your sister-in-law's pregnancy, knowing that she's due any minute. Your cell phone, which is your first method of communication, is upstairs. Yet, your home is also equipped with a land line, with one telephone located merely a foot away from the kitchen counter. Without knowing if you're home or not, your brother excitedly dials your Google Voice number, resulting in his call being forward to every telephone assigned to it - including your land line.

With configuration requiring only a few steps, use of this service is that easy, gathering our different modes of telecommunication under the umbrella of Google Voice.

Extra features include :

* Voicemail * Call History * Conference Calling * Call Blocking * Voice transcription ( translating your voice mail into SMS messages ) * Call transitioning, which permits you to migrate from one telephone to next in the middle of a call.

Google now permits you to use your existing phone number with Google Voice, a feature that was only just announced. Your present number can be employed in tandem with a new Google Voice number. To read more about this new feature, visit here

Importance of Registry Cleaners

By Bufen Hill

If the computer that you are using is sluggish and runs slowly, then a registry cleaner will completely transform its speed and turn it into something that you will indeed enjoy using. It works in seconds to make a backup to your registry and scan the computer thus fixing all the errors which might be causing all kinds of problems to the whole system.

A registry cleaner is software which is very helpful to a computer. It functions to remove all the unwanted files and items from the Windows registry. The windows registry holds all the files thus it is the computer's central database which holds all the information that is needed to configure the operating system of the computer and thus enable a user to perform different operations which he might be interested in. The windows also stores the information needed so as to configure the hardware as well as the applications which enable the complete operation of the operating system.

When ever one uses the computer, then the registry is enlarged and rearranged especially with unwanted files and information. Most of this unwanted information includes files which have not been completely installed in the computer, invalid entries as well as missing links in the registry. When the registry is not constantly updated there are many computer errors which occur. The computer becomes slower and it may finally crash.

The registry cleaners perform their functions almost immediately. They are quick and efficient. They begin their functions by first of all backing up the registry in case it has got a problem. It then fixes all the errors which are in the registry. This may be the incorrect program shortcuts, invalid keys at the registry as well as a host of other error which cause the computer not to function well. With only a click of the button this registry cleaning software is able to make the computer faster by ridding off all the errors which it might be experiencing.

The registry cleaners are available online and you can download and install them to your computer system. Some of these are free whereas there are those that come at a cost. Using this registry cleaning software is quite easy and does not require one to possess any technical knowhow at all.

The software works in two ways once it has been downloaded into the system. The initial stage involves scanning the registry for all the bad links as well as the redundant information which is no longer useful to the computer. Then the second stage is the repair segment whereby after all the information to be cleaned is highlighted then it is completely removed from the system.

Whenever you are using the registry cleaner practice a lot of caution so as not to mess with the registry as vital information and files may be lost. But with the best registry cleaner this mammoth task will be effectively done and it will lead to your computer running smoother and faster than you had earlier on anticipated.

Put Multiple Organization Tools Into One

By Gerard Schwabe

We're using a lot of different communication and organization tools today. There are the basic tools, like an email client, an instant messenger and of course our phone. When you favor the latest technologies available on the market, you may even use Skype for phone calls over the internet.

It can be a hard task to add all different data, like appointments, notes, tasks and contacts into a single tool and don't lose the overview. This often results into several tools, one for its own type of data. This way of organization may result in a higher level of confusion. When your different tools aren't synced with each other, you need to ask yourself which program is holding the information you currently need.

Does it take too long for you to find a contact's address, email or phone number. How long does it take to find a meeting slot for you and three other people? These are typical situations where a lack of functions and interoperability between your different tools make your daily work harder as it needs to be. It's still common to use MS Excel for organization, but Excel is definitive the wrong software for this job. Excel is great when it comes to calculating with formulas, but it should be the last option for organization.

On is to use a Personal Information Manager, or just short PIM. A PIM usually consists of a scheduler, a contact manager, notes, an email client and a task manager. The most important thing is that the PIM was designed to help you with your daily private or business organization. Mostly all parts are working together; therefore you can turn off all other applications which handle only a single issue of your organization.

PIMs consist of an email client, an appointment, a task, contact and note manager, offer a rich set of functions especially for communication and planning. Think about a scheduler which can be synced with others and that shows you with one click when several users have time for a new meeting. Think about a contact manager with search and filter options that let you initiate a chat or Skype session with just a few clicks. Sounds good? Then take a look on the available PIMs and give it a try. The most known PIM is MS Outlook, but there are some alternatives to it like Pimero, iCal or Lotus Organizer.

Some Gift Suggestions For Your Computer this Christmas

By Dorthy Weatherbush

Every year when Christmas comes around we all hope for that one gift. That pair of shoes that you haven't been able to afford, that set of power tools for your garage, or that toy you've been wanting all year. But what about that one gift for your computer? While computers aren't alive there are many things that can be bought for them that would make them happy if they were.

We use computers all of the time and it follows that if your computer runs great, and happy, you will be happy as well. So let's take a look at hardware upgrades you can give your machine. Knowing how your computer works will make it easy for you to select the presents for your machine. First off, let's take a look at its power supply unit. This is a very important part of the computer that we tend to ignore. Not just any old power supply is good enough.

While it may say 700 watts on the side, it might be bad quality. Remember you need one that has enough amps on the 12 volt rail to support your video card. A good power supply or PSU generally has around 40 amps on the 12 volt rail. If you don't have a video card and are using an onboard chipset then it's time to get one. Video cards do more for your machine than make games look good.

They are more capable than an integrated chipset and can take additional strain off of the primary processor, or CPU. Dedicated video cards as they are called also have their own memory installed. This frees up the ram that was being shared by the onboard video card and system, allowing for faster performance. They also can decode complex DVD's and BLU RAY movies faster.

You can also purchase a dedicated sound card in addition to the video card, and also some new speakers. The 5.1 surround sound card and speaker system will give your games the sound quality they deserve. Of course this will not work the way it should if you don't have the RAM to make your machine perform at its best. Luckily RAM chipsets are among the cheapest components available for your computer.

So go ahead and buy your computer the 4 Gigabytes of RAM it deserves this Christmas. You could also buy a 1 Terabyte hard drive for your machine. You can say goodbye to the space constrains for your music, games, pictures, and home movies. Finally you could give your computer additional cooling with high performance fans.

Of course for the interface devices you can buy new mice and keyboards. Preferably the transparent ones with the multi colored LED lights in them. Or grab a new HDTV for a monitor upgrade. If you're really enthusiastic then you could buy a transparent case with LED fans. Nothing says it's Christmas like swapping computer parts between cases while drinking Eggnog.

So regardless of what you buy to make your computer happy remember that it can't be happy about it. Therefore you must be happy for it, and enjoy the upgrade you bought. So go forth, play your games, movies, and music. Play to your heart's content and enjoy the Christmas present you bought your computer.

Birthday Reminder Websites

By Maxwell Lunderquist

Many people have a hard time remembering important dates like anniversaries and birthdays. If this is you, then you should sign up for a free membership on a site that sends you birthday reminders and allows you to send out happy birthday greetings.

Most sites that give your birthday reminders also will have a selection of happy birthday, greetings, condolences and other cards for you to select. That way, no matter the occasion, you can find the perfect card.

You can choose a different E-card for each person on your list, individualizing things. If you have a friend who is a class clown, they will probably appreciate a funny card, while your mom might like something a little more thoughtful. There are even cards that will tell amazing facts about the specific year that that person was born.

If you want to personalize things even further, consider taking a video of them and adding a personal greeting to it. You can get a video off YouTube and change the border, background and message.

When you receive birthday reminders from a website, you can usually store hundreds of birthday dates. If you do not want to constantly check the site, you can get email reminders sent to you, or you can even attach a widget to your website or blog with the dates you need to remember.

If you sign up with a new site, then you can usually get a RSS reminder that will only update with the upcoming events of the month or week, depending on your settings. When you have advance notice like this, you can get your happy birthday, greetings and condolences cards out of the way.

If you use a birthday reminders site, then you should get your friends to join the same one. This is the best route because you can upload your wish list and give your friends gift ideas for things you actually want.

So, whether you need mobile birthday reminders, or you wish to send out online happy birthday greeting cards, you can get it all with one site. Find a website that provides everything you need, and sign up today.
