When your computer is being bombarded with annoying popup ads, it can be easy to lose focus on what you are doing. You log on to get something in particular done but end up just getting frustrated. In fact, quite often it can lead to you using your computer less because you can not be bothered with the hassle of dealing with the popups. It does not have to be like that though, as there are ways of making your computer popup ad free.
The simplest defense against them is to change the privacy settings on your computer. Do not worry though, it is not necessary to be a computer expert to do so, you just have to be able to follow a few instructions..
Just go to your Control Panel, which can be accessed from the Start Menu. Then, double click on the Internet Options icon, and follow that up by clicking on the tab that says Privacy. You should be able to see a little box next to text that says 'Turn On Popup Blocker' - simply check that box.
When you've done this you might also need to adjust the privacy levels on your computer. If you prefer, you could also download the MSN and Google Toolbars for more protection. Both of these toolbars will enhance the security of your web browsers.
The only real problem, when you may need the help of an expert, or at least to do some extra research on yourself, is if the popup ads are the result of adware and spyware, and repeatedly come back, no matter what you do. Unfortunately, simply learning how to block adware popups may not be enough if your computer has already been infested with spyware or adware.
If you think there is a likelihood that adware or spyware has installed itself on your computer then it is essential that you set about removing it. To do so, first delete any unfamiliar programs by using the Add or Remove Programs tool in your Control Panel, and then run an anti adware program, which can be downloaded for free, to remove anything that you may missed.
Should your adware popups problem still exist after following these steps then you will need to seek professional help in order to resolve the issue.
