How To Spot A Reliable Web Hosting Company

By Terry Hicks

Reliable web hosting is of the utmost importance if you want to have a career in as webmaster or even if you just want to build your very own personal web page. It doesnt matter what the purpose of the site is for. You need hosting that you can rely on and trust.

If I had to pick one mistake that new webmasters make, is that they look at the price tag, when picking a hosting company. They don't seem to realize the majority of the time, they are getting exactly what they are paying for.

People are sometimes too lazy to look, but the truth is there are and abundant amount of the reliable web hosting companies. First things first, you need to make sure that you can reach them 24 hours a day. This is critical because eventually you will run into a problem, so its important that you are able to contact them directly.

You also have to know what kind of uptime they have. Put yourself in the browser's shoes. Would you honestly wait more than 10 seconds for a site to load before you just clicked back. I know I wouldn't. That delay could have cost you a potential sale. All because you chose the wrong hosting company.

People expect pages to load fast. They are not going to be in the mood to wait around for your web hosting company to get their act together. They'll just move on.

Also, when you are using poor hosting services, your websites tend to crash. That is big time no-no in this industry. The moment you start seeing that on your site, its time to look for another company, and quickly. This is by far, the very least a hosting company can do is have you site available to the public. If they can't even do that, then you know everything else is just going to get worse.

It doesn't take a lot of searching to find many people that have been ripped off by poor hosting services. Many of them even have security issues where people have put viruses on the server.

Some of these people spent day after day working diligently on their website only to find that it had been hacked into and the site was torn to shreds. You want to make sure you are never in that kind of position. Its a helpless and frustrating feeling (not to mention, you feel very violated).
